It’s like opening a dusty old desk drawer and finding an undiscovered LucasArts adventure game you’ve never played before.

Even as a teenager I felt in love playing 2d adventures especially point&click as was series like Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Loom, Beneath a steel sky, and so on. I never thought that in the 21st century I would discover a less great game from the programmers (Gary Winnick and Ron Gilbert) from LucasArts. LucasArts created games, which I’ve enjoyed most for it’s entertainment value, funny story and easy control of the game. Did you know that unlike games from Sierra Online and the others it isn’t possible to die in LucasArts games? Despite fact you can save your game anytime I think vulnerability makes game better.

Game’s name is TimbleweedPark and was created with the help of Kickstarter crowdfunding between years 2014-2017. It is using very same graphics used back in the ‘90 , so don’t expect modern design either the superb resolution. I don’t understand at all how this could have escaped my attention until now. Game runs on a proven engine Scumm (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion, which is platform developed by Aric Wilmunder and Ron Gilbert in time when both worked for LucasArts.

In the Timbleweed Park game, you are tasked with investigating the discovery of a dead body on the outskirts of town. The game is unique in that you control up to 5 characters who can exchange items with each other (except for one, but more on that later).

It's true that the ability to play multiple characters was first used back in 1987 in Maniac Mansiongame, but it wasn't a common game feature.

Each character has its own character and, above all, unique properties, e.g. the clown is not afraid of heights and thus is suitable for a specific task that you simply cannot do with another character. That's why it's sometimes useful to pass a found item to another character who will use it better. As I mentioned before, items cannot be exchanged with a ghost. It is logical, the ghost simply has nowhere to put earthly objects, it also cannot talk to the living, but only to the dead. On the other hand, he can go through closed doors, haunt and other tricks. Before a new character is added to your portfolio, you will play a short intro with just them where they introduce themselves and learn more about their past. When you're stuck in the game and don't know what to do next, you can call HintTron3000! This is the helpline where you can ask for help! You don't have to Google anywhere, and the game will easily indicate where to go next. If it is not enough, the help becomes more and more specific. Great idea, I've used it myself a few times and was glad for it. If you don't have experience in this type of games, or simply don't want so many puzzles, the game offers casual and hard difficulties at the beginning.
